Is it possible in Excel for the mother workbook to automatically update without the source workbook being open simultaneously or immediately before it? My goal is to have a workbook for my clients to enter in data. Then another workbook that does the calculations on that data. However, I don't wish for them to see my formulas so I thought linking a third workbook to it to display results would be best. For this to work, the second workbook could never be opened and would have to be saved in a private folder on the cloud storage drive as opposed to the shared folders that my clients can use. My clients would only have access to the first workbook to enter data and the third to see the results. Is this possible or is there another way I can hide my calculations so I don't need the third workbook? I know Excel has a protected view option and has the ability to allow a user to lock and hide formulas in cells he/she doesn't want other to see. However, I have read many articles online that say this is not a very secure method and if someone really wants to see your calculations, they can figure it out with minimal effort. Something along the lines of copy and pasting the worksheet into an unprotected file or something of the sort. If I have a completely different file that simply references the figures that are displayed, there's no way for the user to access my calculations. That was my thought process at least. Any suggestions?
