    Search Keyword and count results

    Hey Guys,

I need some help with searching and counting keywords in an excel document.

In the sample attached i want to be able to search Column I (only this column) for the following keywords:
    Football
    Hockey
    Basketball
    Tennis

and then display the count total for each of the keywords

So i think it should return
    Football - 3
    Hockey - 2
    Basketball - 3
    Tennis -2

Could someone do this for me on the attached excel sheet and let me know how its done.
    Cheers

One way is by using an array formula. Please find the attached sheet to see if this is what you want.

Making use of sktneer attachment, another variation would be.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Thanks sktneer,

This is what im looking to do and it looks easy.

So im trying to create the formula myself on another doc and cant replicate how yours in work.
Ive rewrote the formula using updated cell numbers etc but its just not working.

Can you tell me what the {} does at the being and end of the count formula . Is looks like thats causing me the problem.

Re: Search Keyword and count results

You see the formula surrounded by curly braces {} in the formula bar when you confirm the formula with Ctrl+Shift+Enter (because this is an array formula) instead the regular Enter.

Glad to help you. Thanks for the feedback.
