Problem: Excel only opens old version of file

Dear all,
I have no idea what happened but: today I wanted to open a file I am working on the whole week, and I am sure I always saved it . When I opened the file it said that it was modified the last time on oct 23d, which is weird, because I modified it every day of the week, so last time on 30th october.

i searched for the file on the whole computer but couldn find it and when I open options recovering old version, there are no old versions.

do any of you know that problem?

the last time I did yesterday was copying the file on a usb stick, and (dont ask me why), but the version on the stick also says modified last time on 23d october.. i have no idea what happened.

From your description, it sounds as if your work is not being saved. I would open your file dated 23 October, make a small change and save it. Close the file and see what happens when you open it. Either it will be today's date or 23 October. If it is today's date then it might be that you have had troubles in the past and all is now ok. If it 23 October - then you have problems which could be either hard ware or software. Try different files and saving to different areas.

If possible I would consider starting again with a fresh workbook and copying from 23 October and pasting into the new one - this may get rid of some problems.

Hope you get to the bottom of your problem - keep taking the backups (and ensure that they are being saved!)
