Formatting a cell automatically if text is entered without using conditional formatting

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if it's possible to get Excel to format a cell if text is entered without having to use conditional formatting . I realise I could do this through conditional formatting however each cell in my sheet already has 3 conditions under conditional formatting attached to it. Is there any way to have more than 3?

    Thanks,

    Luke

Parhaps some samples of what you are trying to do? And what rules do you already have in your CF?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

I have attached a small sample part of the worksheet.

The cells will primarily be numeric. So the conditional formatting changes the colour of the cell depending on what time of day the shift starts and finishes. The first condition ensures the cell stays white (or blank) if no data is entered (otherwise it turns red). What I would like to do is when text is entered in the cell, for example HOL for holiday this is bolded, right aligned and the data in the cell to the right is cleared.

    Thanks,

    Luke

Have a look at the VB Code in this spread sheet. It may be what you are looking for and you can change to suit.
