excel 2007 - applying filter ONE column only.

    hey all,

i am trying to get a filter going on column "I" only, but it always filter the entire sheet. I tried to select the header cell and the first cell under it and apply the filter, didnt work . Also selecting the whole column and applying the filter didn't work. Please, any suggestions? Many thanks

I don't really get it, I am able to filter a single column. See sample workbook.

Edit: Right, I just understood what you meant. As martindwilson said, it's not possible to hide/filter rows a single column while having rows on other columns showing. Best possible way you can try is to copy the column to a new worksheet.

I believe I have the same question... I want to filter all columns, however, I don't want to have a filter menu for each column (otherwise it looks like a bunch of arrows that can cover the title of each column).

Is there a way to put the arrow box/filtering menu on one column only?

    Thanks!

Thanks Martin, I've actually figured it out how to apply the filter to specific columns... it's quite simple.

In case anyone else have the same doubt: just select the entire columns you want to apply a filter to, the arrows will show only on the top of those columns, but the functionality will apply to all cells on that same row.

    hope this helps.

    Thanks again
