Question Conditional Formatting Messing Up When Delete Cells

    Hi,

I am using conditional formatting in some columns to highlight duplicate values.

I set the rule to apply to F:F but I have to delete cells/insert cells all the time that messes the conditional formatting up to something like the below.

Applies to change from F:F ot =$F$84:$F$85 and =$F$1:$F$83,$F$86:$F$1048576.

How do I stop it from changing?

    Thanks

    Hi Jamiek47,

If you are using Excel 2010, then all you are going to do is select the entire column F and go to conditional formatting and select duplicate values and select the colour. Then it works and even if you are deleting or adding columns, it will not change.

May be if there is any formula in column F, whihc is linked with the column you are deleting.

Can you post a sample workbook.

    Thanks,

    Hi Agane,

I think I have figured it out.

When deleting cells it messes up if I delete cells and select "shift cells left". It is stays fine if I select "shift cells up" how odd!

    Cheers
