I realize that it's a long post - please bear with me
I re-installed Sterling Trader Pro (a stock trading application, for which I have a Sterling account) with the Excel RTD (Real Time Data) option instead of the DDE option. I plan to update my Sterling-centric Excel 2010 trading application to use RTD to access Sterling's real time market feed. The entire installation was uneventful and reported as successful.
HOWEVER Excel lists the RTD add-in in Options > Add-ins as an INACTIVE COM add-in. When I select it in Manage COM Add-ins, Load Behavior states "Not loaded: A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in", no error code given. And of course the add-in doesn't show up in Excel's Add-Ins ribbon.
With the very same Sterling installation on my HP laptop (Win 7 Ultimate) the RTD add-in properly appears in the Excel (2007) active list and in the Add-ins ribbon, and I can create working RTD formulas with it. But the laptop is not suited to development work. On both PCs (and tech support's) the RTD add-in is identified and listed as mscoree.dll, which is a Win System file.
Back to the desktop PC. Sterling tech support confirms that I have all the Excel Add-in and Trust Center options set correctly. Win 7 Pro (which I recently clean-reinstalled), including .Net Framework 4, Client & Extended, is fully up-to-date. In all other respects the entire system (3GHz Intel CPU, 4 MB RAM, big hard drive) runs fine.
Here's what I've tried so far, to no avail:
1 ran Malwarebytes and Norton - neither one found any bad stuff of any kind
2 ran sfc /scannow from elevated cmd prompt - reported no integrity violations
3 tried to register the RTD add-in's five dlls with RegSvr32; in each case it said the dll was loaded, but "entry point DllRegisterServer was not found".
4 repaired Office 2010 (Home & Student) through Control Panel, Programs & Features
5 adjusted some Services to match laptop (mostly the startup mode)
6 compared group policy settings - couldn't see any meaningful differences
Can anyone suggest how to get this RTD add-in to activate and work in Excel on this particular PC?
