When i try to filter a list in excel and wish to uncheck "select all" and just select individual names, the checkboxes that normally showed up next to the list items to be filtered are no longer showing. When I try to filter within a normal list, it will allow me to but I cannot within a PivotTable. Is there a way to get the check boxes back?

(stupid question) do you in fact have more than 1 item to filter on?
Can you upload a sample (cleaned) of what you are working with?

Attached is a test file. My issue is that when click on the dropdown to filter in the lists, I am not seeing the checkboxes to select/unselect to pick and choose what I want to filter on. Within the pivot table, It will not let me filter at all. Im curious if a setting got changed that I do not know about.

Is it possible that something got corrupted in Excel and I should just reload it? I can filter within my lists but the little checkboxes next to the names do not show up. lt will not let me filter at all within a pivot table. I did just put MS Project 13 on my machine this week and that is when I noticed this issue. Not sure how that could be causing this issue but...

The filters were applied, but when I went to change the filter in the pivot table, I was unable to change the filter. I was able to change the filtering in the list, but the checkboxes were not there. Is it possible some VBA got messed up and it affected the filtering and showing of the checkboxes?
Looks like this is an issue with Office Updates. This came from Microsoft.com. I have the issue described below, Im running W7x32 and '13 also.
"I just ran into this problem although im running W7x32 with Office 2013. In my case uninstalling KB2827238 fixes the checkboxes. I will note that when the update installs, it shows up 4 different times under installed updates and I had to uninstall all 4 before the problem was fixed. If I reinstall that update it breaks again."

I got this problem solved. Ended up uninstalling MS Office and reinstalling, problem went away. Thanks for advice on this.
