Question Gradient color formating based on another worksheet cell.

    Hello to all...

I am building a Cardex to determine quantity of persons in absense in certain days. I almost have it complete, but I want to add something else. In the Tab "Cal" I have a Calendar Table for December 2013. In the Tab "Values" a Table with the absenses is showned (L11:R16) and maximum of absences is "6" (L5). On the left side is the table for the month of December 2013 (D11:J16).

Returning the "Cal" Tab, I have placed a formula to extract the equal values from cells L11:R16 in the "Value" Tab. Also, I have conditionally format the vulues to appear as "white" numbers - If you select the range B7:H12 you will see the values.

What I ask for your help is the following:

Can you help me to conditionally format by gradient color the cells B7:H12 ("Cal" Tab) (Clear to Dark color in ascending mode - as greater the value darker the color) and taking as reference the values in the "Value" Tab L11:R16.

Bucause of System Security, I can not save VBA Codes. So basically I am looking for formulas to achieve this goal. I have Excel 2007. please feel free to contact me if need more information about my post.

I will really appreciate this help and support.

Best regards to all and please have an excellent day.

    Samuel Cruz.

Re: Gradient color formating based on another worksheet cell.

Excel will not allow Conditional Formatting across WorkSheets or WorkBooks.
You need to fool Excel and adapt a trigger to activate highlighting between WorkSheets. We must have a small copy, (10 to 15 rows of ea. Sheet “names altered”), of your Data so we can see exactly how to do this.
