    Advanced charts challenges

    1) In the attached file, on the left chart, I would like to label the data point in cell D3 so the number 1,050 appears on the chart.
Similarly, I would like to add the data point in cell b367 so the number 714 appears on the chart

    2) Does anyone know how to add a horizontal line on the bridge chart (the chart on the right) using the value 1063 in cells L2:L10. I do specifically mean a straight horizontal line at the value 1063, not a column.

Thank you very much, help, charts! (version 1).xls

(I am using Excel 2003 but can potentially access 2010)

    Thanks again,

    David

    1. Add a series, change to xy-scatter, set it to reference 2 data points. Add data labels

    2. Add a series based on Goal data. Change chart type to Line

    Re: Advanced charts challenges

Andy thank you very very much,

I wonder if we can go one step further. At the moment, instead of just having 1,050 in the label, I would like to add some text to it, using a formula in cell J35 of the attached.
As you can see when i do that the data point just goes to zero.

Are you aware of any work around for this? thanks

Use that text as the series name rather than the Y value, which as it's text will be treated as zero.

If you want to add text to both data labels then you will need to use 2 series instead of 1.

Select the individual data point in order to change what the data label displays
