# Only roll one item in formula

1. ## Only roll one item in formula

When copying the formula =SUMIFS(G3:G103,I3:I103,"3") how do I modify it so that only the "3" rolls to the next integer and the rest of the formula remains constant? In other words the 3 would roll to a 4 when copied down a column and the rest of the formula does not change?

2. ## Re: Only roll one item in formula

Hi,

Presume you mean rather "when copied down a row"?

=SUMIFS(\$G\$3:\$G\$103,\$I\$3:\$I\$103,ROWS(\$1:3))

Regards

3. ## Re: Only roll one item in formula

Assuming the formulas will begin in Row_5
Try this
=SUMIF(\$I\$3:\$I\$103,ROW()-2,\$G\$3:\$G\$103)

Is that something you can work with?

Thanks for the response,
Well it worked for the 1st section, but not if I use it in a second section.
I collect the information in 100 row sections and the 1 or 2 or 3 etc. is a value I assign to a row within the 100 rows that this formula picks up and reflects in a cell that sums all the same values within the 100 row section.

Then I think you need to upload an attachment and point out clearly your desired results in each 'section'.

Regards
