    How to summarize monthly in a data sheet?

    Hi,

    I have a data sheet with a lot of data spanning over several years and I need to summarize two columns (separately) for each month. The data sheet has 3 coloumns, one with the dates 2011-06-12, and two columns with the values. How do I do this? Is there any way Excel can recognize the change of months? (there are 11 stations 7 years of data... so I really dont want to go about this one month at a time).

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    I have another similar question:

    In another data sheet I have many different parameters in columns, I would like to calculate the mean values of all my parameters in the top 10 meters of every sampling occasion.
    The data is organised in columns for date, water depth (0, 2, 5 and 10 meters down to 70 meters), salinity, temperature, phosphate etc

    Any ideas?
