I downloaded your files, but I haven't got a clue what you are talking about to be honest...

If you are trying to repeat the same thing over and over with the push of a button, then you could use a macro to do just that, but you will have to save your file as a macro enabled document to accomplish it.

If you are trying to use data from another sheet in the same workbook, then you should put the sheet name in front of the cell from that sheet followed by an exclamation mark like so: sheetname!A1

Please be more specific by providing an example of your goal. e.g. if cell A1 is this, then I want cell B1 in sheet "example" to do that.

cheers,

Michael.

ps:

Avoiding copy paste if a desired value is already present: just type ="Cell" in to the cell where you want that data. So if cell A1 in sheet "example" is what you want to display in aother sheet, then just type =example!A1 in the cell where you want to display that result.

Re: Need Help on Next button from one excel to another excel to get data

I apologize for your inconvenience. What i am saying is - i have created "Next" button only. But I don't know how to write macro.... My requirement is If i click the Next button that data1 excel "s.no" should come in this sheet.

ex: data1 sheet have S.no (2nd column)

Next button -
1st click - 1231
2nd click - 1232

Like that data should reflect in data2 excel

I am beginner stage in excel please help if it is possible....Thank you for your response

Re: Need Help on Next button from one excel to another excel to get data

A macro is simply a sequence of actions recorded to be executed automatically when you click e.g. a button. Because I'm a beginner as well, I can't help you with that because I have never used it before.

First of all, it looks like you are talking about sheets, but I think you mean workbooks to be honest. the sheets you have uploaded are 2 separate workbooks at the moment.

You can see a workbook as a book, and the sheets as pages in that book you see. At the bottom of your sheet, you can see "sheet 1", "sheet 2", "sheet 3" right.
First you'll need to copy the info from "data2.xls" in to "sheet 2" of "data1.xls" Then you have both sheets in 1 workbook.
It's also possible to do what you want between workbooks, but it's a lot easier if your data is in 1 workbook.

Once you have done that, you can use the method I posted earlier by simply typing = first, and then click the cell on the other sheet with the data you want to display in that cell. press enter once you have done that and the cell will display the data form the cell you have clicked.

If you then copy the cell from the 2nd sheet (with the =formula) to the next one down, it will automatically adjust and copy the next cell down from the first sheet. You can simply copy/paste that to a selection of cells and they will all automatically copy the correct cell from the first sheet.

1 thing to keep in mind is that it's important to put all the values in the same row if you want excel to automatically change correctly. If you put your data in a column way, this won't be the case.

@bricklin3:16

You are sailing pretty close to breaching forum rule 6b about being courteous.

As far as I can see vayana is trying to help you in the spirit of the forum. It is of course up to you whether you accept the advice/help given.

You need to realise that often requests for help are not always as clear as they might be, nor indeed answers. Sometimes that's because English is not the first language and sometimes it's because of genuine misunderstandings. Most people however offer help in a spirit of openness and a wish to help.

May I suggest you retract the comment that 'vayana doesn't know the answer' and asking why he's replying. He's replying I suggest with a genuine desire to assist. If the answers given are not appropriate then either say nothing or explain why the answer you've been given isn't doing what you expect. This is often the way misunderstandings are overcome and a solution emerges.

I'll refrain from an infraction at the moment whilst you consider the above.

No, not really.

I was expecting some sort of acknowledgment that what you'd said was not appropriate. All you've done is remove what you wrote.

Neither have you said why the answer you've been given doesn't solve your question. How do you expect a solution to be narrowed down if those who are trying to help you don't know where their responses fail?

Are you being deliberately provocative?

My patience is wearing a little thin.
Either post something sensible or expect some sanction to be following on soon.

bricklen, I have been following this thread, and it seems that your attitude coud do with a bit of an adjustment!! ALL members here are volunteers, offering their assistance free of charge (although many members ARE proffesional programmers).

If you want help, then you need to provide the info requested. You obviously are completely aware of what yoy are saying and what you want, while all members can do is read what you post - and ask questions. It's up to you to help us help you
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Need Help on Next button from one excel to another excel to get data

A professional service won't help you one bit either if you don't phrase your requirements correctly. You'll need to provide more details about what it is that you want, because at the moment it's quite obscure.

The reason I tried to help you out is because I know it can be frustrating to wait for an answer. Since you bumped your question, you seemed very eager to get a response that would help you. As I already mentioned, your question is not very clear to me and this could also mean that it's not very clear for others as well. Therefor, this could be the reason why you're not getting any helpful responses. On top of that, your answers are not very friendly which also doesn't help if you want people to help you.

What you want your spreadsheet to do, might not work the way you have in mind. It's the goal that matters, not necessarily the way to achieve it. You have uploaded 2 workbooks, which is what I explained to you earlier. To this point you haven't provided any feedback if that's intentional or not. And yes you have made a button, I saw that. Now I can be mistaken, but why on earth would you want to push a button to copy paste from workbook 1 to workbook 2 if excel can automatically do that with a cell reference. This is why I gave you the solution I thought was good. If it's not good, then it doesn't mean I'm wrong - it means that I didn't understand your requirements because you have failed to describe them properly.

I suggest you change your query, provide detailed information about your goal and be respectful to whoever is willing to spend time to work out a solution for you.

Should you want to push your luck somewhere else: There is a Commercial Service part on this very same forum, or you could try Odesk and find a professional to help you.
