    Question Help Optimizing Large Spreadsheet

    Hello,
I need help taking the attached file and finding a way to optimize it so it's smaller and more efficient. The data alone is 14.5 MB. The sheet is split into two different sections “Data” and “Indicators”. The data portion is from 2000 to 2013 and is in column “A” through column “Q”. There are only values in column “A” through “Q”. The formula portion is from column “R” to column “BB”. I have already tried things like removing the conditional formatting, saving the file in the binary format, and made portions of the sheet values instead of formulas but I have only been able to achieve a modest reduction in file size. It's just too much data.

I've only included a small portion of the data and the formulas so I could attach the file. With all of the data through 2013 and formulas along with it the file is too large. I’m hoping some advice can be given based up what I attached.

Can anyone help with optimizing this Excel file? Any help will be appreciated.

    System Specs
    Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    16GB RAM
    64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
    Excel 2010 64-bit

Thanking you in advance for any and all help.

I can not see any formulas.
With large data like this Access (or any other database) would be more efficient to store your data.

Thank you for the advice Robert. The formulas start in R82 and end in column BB506. How would I go about using Access for storing the data?

    I see the formulas now.
You can export the whole table to Access(just use the export option).
You may need to manipulate the data to suit Access.
    (please see example --
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...atabase1.accdb
I'm sure you can recreate most of the formula(sorry I'm not expert here)

Thank you Robert. I understand you're not an expert but I still appreciate the help. One last question... Do I export from Excel or import from Access?
