the two file seem to open each time I open an Excel file so I end up with two file opens all the time and few more "Read Only"..which is quite annoying ..any suggestions please ?

For Excel 2010 on Vista/7 (I suppose 8 is the same), PERSONAL.xlb is found in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
and opens automatically whenever you open Excel. However, it should be hidden so you don't notice it. If you open Excel and it is not hidden, you can simply go to View, Hide to hide it. When you close Excel answer Yes when it asks you if you want to save your changes.
PERSONAL.xls is a leftover from earlier versions of Excel and is found in the same folder. If you don't want or need it, you can delete it.
I don't know what is going on with your "few more 'Read Only'" files. If you have other files in that same folder, they will be opened automatically also.
