Can't Scroll (not scroll lock, not frozen panes, not options)

Excel 2010, when using touchpad to scroll hovered over active worksheet, it will not scroll down. But if I scroll down with touchpad hovered over the vertical scroll bar, it does scroll down. Touchpad scrolls properly on other applications but not excel. Played around with scroll lock on keyboard and in excel status bar, and that didn't work, there are no frozen panes in my worksheet, and I didn't see anything in excel options.

The document in question was saved on a computer using windows 7 home premium and being used for the first time on a windows 8.1 machine. Both machines use office 2010.

Hope this explains the problem... I've researched several solutions and none have worked. Thanks.

Additional info: Cursor changes from arrow to scroll bar looking cursor, worksheet does randomly scroll up and down, but almost always doesn't, here's a weird one, when I hit F1 and had help open, I can hover cursor over active help screen and touchpad scroll up and down in worksheet normally (cursor still changes - I don't like my cursor to change when scrolling, but that's besides the point).

The touchpad on my laptop requires two fingers slightly apart dragging in the direction of the desired scroll. Other touchpads have a scroll zone on the edges of the touch pad.

You will need the documentation for your computer to see how to set up and use the touchpad. There is likely to be settings in the Control Panel under Mouse.

Re: Can't Scroll (not scroll lock, not frozen panes, not options)

I looked there already. As I said touchpad scrolls fine in other apps. I already tried installing a different touchpad driver from laptop manufacturer that had slightly different settings. Still no luck.

One odd thing I noticed, if I click on my taskbar (making the current window inactive, in this case google chrome) and then try to scroll with the cursor over the inactive webpage, the same scrolling cursor appears from when I try to scroll in excel and I can't scroll down.

Another thing I noticed is that the problem only occurs with Excel documents that were created on my old windows 7 laptop and does not happen with newly created documents.

    Thanks for the help.

I am currently experiencing the same problem. Did you ever find a solution? My excel 2010 has been working fine for years.
Only recently did I start experiencing the Vertical scroll problem. Only happens in Excel. All other apps fine. Only vertical scroll.
Horizontal scroll works fine. Never froze panes, and not scroll locked. Also, doesn't work for all excel doc's old and new.

Please help, this is most annoying!

    Regards,

    John
