Excel changes from number format to date format , when ever its closed and reopened

On Excel 2007, Windows XP, when I save a excel sheet and reopen all the number formats get changed to date. Somehow it seems like the default is set to date, but I have no idea how to change it back to its original format.

Note:-I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the excel, didnt do any better.

can any one help me on this?
