Conditional Formatting multiple column based on reference cell???

    ___A______B_______C_______D_____E____F
    ___y_____236_____464_____23____36____
    ___x_____343_____124_____236___44____
    ___x_____436______89_____36____464___
    ___w____ 346_____634_____35____162___
    ___z_____252_____152_____23____536___

From above data, I want to be able to highlight column B,C,D,E based on value on A.
For example, if A1="y", C1 and D1 should be highlighted. If A1="x", B1 and E1 would be highlighted. If A2="z", C2 and E2 would be highlighted.

I'm not sure if conditional formatting can do this. Best if those cells can be highlighted in color, but as long as user can identify which cells are chosen, it's okay.

What I'm trying to get at is that in Column F, I have: =IF(A1="w",B1*D1,IF(A1="x",B1*E1,IF(A1="y",C1*D1,....))) and I want to highlight cells that are used in calculation based on criteria on A.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hemesh,

Awesome! I wasn't sure if Conditional Formatting could do this. The actual file you've made was really helpful.

    Thank you!!
