Display today's date until the end of the year then fix it as the last day of that year
Hi
I need to display the current date in a cell until the end of the year then fix it as the last day of that year.
this is the best i could come up with =IF(TODAY()>DATEVALUE("31/12/2014"),TODAY(),"31/12/2014")
but it just displays the FALSE i.e. 31/12/2014, the date is used by another formula and calculates figures that are only related to that year hence the need for the date not to exceed the last day of the year.
I hope someone can help i really am stumped!

I can't test it because US date is DATE(2014,12,31).. but think that will work.

You actually want to display the smallest value out of today and 31st Dec 2014 so that can be done with this formula
=MIN(TODAY(),DATE(2014,12,31))
format as date

thanks Kspeese i understand now it was actuality a simple syntax error i just needed to "<=" instead of ">".
