    Text to Columns, BUT

    I need to distinguish not for spaces but new lines.

    One Cell:
    FirstName Last Name (with space)
    FirstName Last Name (with space)

    Using space as the factor to separate columns doesn't work for the example above, I need it to separate the next line into columns.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Use text to columns. Select Delimited. Unselect all boxes and then select Other. In the little window, type Ctl +J. Run the Text to Columns

    Re: Text to Columns, BUT

    Did some research on Ctrl + J (because I had never heard of it) and found this bit to go along with it by Dave Peterson

    Ctrl + J can be used in the Replace using * as a wildcard

    ctrl-j is the alt-enter. Another way to enter alt-0010 on the numeric keypad.

    *(ctrl-j) should delete everything through the last alt-enter keeping text
    after that last alt-enter.

    (ctrl-j)* should delete everything from the first alt-enter through the rest of
    the value.

    *(ctrl-j)* should clear all the cells that contain at least one alt-enter.

    @NewDoverman

    I think that you should post all the Ctl +J to the Tips section of the forum. I just stumbled across the keyboard alternative to Alt + Enter today. Nice explanation.
