    Re: Fixed display custom format

If I understand you correctly you want a Custom Number format of ???/2014 if you want to be able to enter all the digits including the 2014.

If you only want to enter the first 3 digits and have the output that you describe this will do it in Custom Number Format ???"/2014"

To format the cells where this formatting is required, select the cells then right click in them and choose Format Cells. Click on the Number tab, Number, Custom and enter the format.

Ctrl + 1 is the keyboard shortcut to get to the formatting.

Just centre column C and you will have real fractions that you can calculate with and they will appear to be like the values in column D that I take are text values.

    Re: Fixed display custom format

you cant custom format just changes the appearance not the underlying value
you could get it be referencing a cell
=TEXT(a1,"000")&"/2014" copy paste back as value
