    Pivot Table Sorting

I have a simple Pivot Table with just two columns, a label and a total count of entries. The first time I ran the Pivot Table the labels were sorted alphabetically, which is what I wanted. I made some changes to the source data table labels, and then refreshed the Pivot Table. But the labels that were edited (mostly different spellings) now appear at the bottom of the first column of the Pivot Table. Is there a way I can restore alphabetical sorting in refreshed Pivot Tables?

I am using Excel for Mac 2011 on a Macbook Pro.

    Thank you.

    Re: Pivot Table Sorting

Seeing that the Pivot Table doesn't appear to be complicated, you might be further ahead to delete the Pivot table and create a new one rather than trying to fix the problem.

You could try clicking anywhere in the Pivot table then on the Options tab, click on Change Data Source and re-select the data area.
There is also a Sort option if you right click on one of the cells that is in the wrong place. Perhaps it is just a matter of sorting.

If you can't resolve the problem, how about posting the workbook so that we can try and help you?

    Re: Pivot Table Sorting

Thank you. I rummaged around in the Pivot Table settings and finally found Sort settings. It included Custom List, Sort A to Z, and Sort by Data Source Order. I changed it to A to Z and refreshed the data. This had no effect.

I also tried selecting the Pivot Table and then re-selecting the data source, but that had no effect.

Finally I gave up and created a new Pivot Table. That of course worked.
