Is there anyway to sort two columns as one virtual column????

When I press SORT A-Z (through a column filter) on my spreadsheet, I want something like this to happen. Is it possible?

    Milkman00,

Are you using a PC or a Mac?

With the data in columns ABC, and, EFG, not filtered.

But, each group sorted per your JPG, PNG, file, we can align ABC with EFG by keys A and E.

To get the most precise answer, it is best to upload/attach a sample workbook (sensitive data scrubbed/removed/changed) that contains an example of your raw data on one worksheet, and on another worksheet your desired results.

The structure and data types of the sample workbook must exactly duplicate the real workbook. Include a clear and explicit explanation of your requirements.

To attach your workbook, scroll down and click on the Go Advanced button, then scroll down and click on the Manage Attachments button.

If I understand correctly you want the sort results to be displayed in more then 1 column. I would sort tyhe actual data and build some formulas to pull the sorted values into the desired column. If there are 150 data points. Sort them, build a VLOOKUP or INDEX function to pull the first 50 into the first desired column and then more LOOKUPs to fill the next desired column with 51-100 and finally to the third desired column to 101-150. Your sort order will be maintained and you can split is in how ever many columns you like.

So I attached the sheet to be clear.

    Forum Excel.xls

Look at the tab labeled "DIFFERENT QUESTION". You see that I have a filter enabled on B1. If you also notice I have Chives just added in cell F32. When I sort on cell B1 I want it to sort both columns was one column and alphabetically.

So in this case what I would want to happen is when I sort on B1 A -> Z , Chives would be placed into B7, and the last item on the sheet moved down to F28.

    Hope that makes sense.
