    It is much easier to work with a sample showing the problem and the exepected output.

    Re: need help on conditional formating....need to remove the conditional formating colour

    Hello girishhb,

    In your Thread: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-a-column.html

    You stated that you wanted it like it done for you,i.e.;

    If x is selected only e column to be active.
    If Y is selected only b & C column to be active.
    If z is selected only B & E column to be active.

    If its not possible, is it possible to highlight the columns as examples given below.

    If y selected in the A2 column, the b2 and c2 cells will be highlight with same colour.

    The main thing i requested above is to updated the mandatory fields when they select the appropriate data in A column.
    With the attached sample Workbook, any appropriate mandatory field, will remain highlighted until some data has been entered.

    ...also it will be help full if you can provide the step by step instruction along with the function that you are using.
    To see how Data Entry is allowed or not, select a highlighted Cell, or any other cell within the applicable range
    and then in the Ribbon, Click on Data> Data Validation, and there you will see how it is done. Likewise for controlling highlighting off cell/s, once again, click on that Cell, and then in the Ribbon, click on Home>Conditional Formatting>Edit Rules, and it will display the formulae as applicable to any requirement.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards.

    Hello girishhb,

    please advise and let us know for what reason u have used the data validation for the attached spread sheet.
    In your previous Thread as shown in Post#5, you have stated the following:

    when i select the "T" i need only the B column and the D column to be active and C column should be deactive and if i select "W" only c column to be active .
    That is why I have used the data validation on the Sheet.

    ...have u applied any function to remove colour from the cell when i enter any value
    All I have done, was to change the formulae in the Coditional Formatting, to meet with your new requirement, as per your Post#4, quote below;

    if i enter date in B column only that column to be auto format with no colour
    HTH
