Filter for Cell Value

A column contains names. I want to filter for one of them, but since this will be part of a macro, I want to use a cell value (in a different tab) as my filter, but Excel 2010 won't let me.

What am I doing wrong?... I take it back, it will, since I won't get an error message, but I won't get any rows as a result of my custom cell filter.

Enter a name to search for in Cell C4, then click "Filter" and "Unfilter" on the attached.

Note how the "Data" TAB will be filtered for the desired name.
