    Copying Sheet: Name already exists

    MS Office Professional Plus 2010
    Excel 2010, 32bit

When making a copy of a sheet within the same workbook, I receive several messages "A formula or sheet you want to move or copy contains the name . . ."
How do I identify and remove these names?
How do I prevent new ones from being generated in the future?

Sorry if this has been solved previously, but I searched the forum and could not find an answer.

    Thank you

    Hi,

You can get the name of list in the Formula Toolbar > Name Manager....

When you right click on the tab of a worksheet that you want to copy within the same workbook, select Create a Copy and select where you want the copy to be. The copy will be placed where you want and automatically renamed. Example: copy Sheet1 and the copy becomes Sheet1 (2) and is placed where you wanted when making the copy.

That did it. I figured there had to be an easy way to fix this. Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback. The first time or two that you try it, it is somewhat confusing as to what is going to happen.
