Question name manager - edit external links automatically

    Hi all,

how do I edit external links automatically in name manager?

    I got external links like

    ='C:\folder1\[file1.xls]SHEET1'!$CM$15

It is easy to replase manually few links, but what about few hundreds...

    How do I replace from

    ='C:\folder1\[file1.xls]SHEET1'!

    to

    ='SHEET1'!

    automatically ?

    Is it possible at all?

    Try something like:

You need to edit the links, not modify all the named ranges through Name Manager.

Re: name manager - edit external links automatically

    Hi TMS,

I use the name manager for formula's for linked pictures so that it doesn't affect excels speed when we are working with the other areas of the spread sheet. The report tab that we use these named ranges on gets copied into multiple other similar spreadsheets as we use the same report tab for all of the spreadsheets every quarter. Each time i copy the tab i have to go through the name manager and delete the link to the previous spreadsheet in every single formula (up to 70 different formulas) is there any way to stream line this (i am looking for something similar to find and replace for the name manager). Please note excel does not allow me to simply break the link with the previous spreadsheet, the function just does not respond. Please help as this is now our most timely issue on our reporting.

I ahve attached a clean version of the formulaes i am using and also one with an example of how the reference comes accross when copied:

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards
