Completing a range of cells based on data on another sheet prompted by dropdown selection

First sheet has a client name and several cells of data along the same line. All of the data on this sheet is kept long term.

The second sheet is completed copied and deleted. In completing the second sheet the client name is selected of a drop down list and pulled from sheet one.

What I want to do and not sure if there is a way is that when I select a client and populate it on sheet two I would like the related data on that clients line from sheet one to populate to same named lines on sheet two.

Can someone advise if this is possible and if so provide a brief description of how it would work

    Use VLOOKUP

Re: Completing a range of cells based on data on another sheet prompted by dropdown select

I may have some questions as I go through this process, hope that's ok?

I will see if I can explain this clearly..

One sheet 1 the first column is the client name and one piece of information is a number call DR (Dock Receipt). On sheet 1 a client can be listed several times each with a different DR.

On sheet 2 there will be a drop down to enter the client name and this comes from the first column in sheet 1. Also on sheet two are 10 cells to list the DR's for that customer, one or more may be used depending on how many times the customer shows on sheet 1.

My intent is to be able to select the client and then I will use vlookup to pull the data across. If the client is listed only once this does not present any problem however when the client is listed 2 or more times I am not sure how this will work or if it can.

First with the DR's can a formula be made to pull the DR's associated with the client name and post each different one to one of the next open of the 10 available cells?

Second let's say CF (cubic feet). On sheet 2 I want the total CF of all lines on sheet 1 associated to the client to come to sheet 2 as a single total and entry to one cell?

Can you offer any advise on if this can be done using vlookup or another tool?
