    Inserting pictures from file

Please keep your response in simple understandable English. I have checked all over the web for this answer and I keep finding sophisticated VBA and macro answers that I do not understand.

So, here is my problem. Up until recently in Windows XP (yes, I know need to update) using Excel 2007 I have always been able to insert pictures into excel from anywhere on my computer.

But now all of a sudden anytime I attempt to navigate to anywhere besides the default "My Pictures" folder. Excel shows an error and shuts down my spreadsheet. I have not changed anything (that I know of) and have tried all kinds of fixes to make my insert picture work without any luck..

Please help I use this feature daily and I can not find a work around.

    Thanks!

    What's the error message?

What happens if you create a new spreadsheet and insert a picture from a folder (NOT My Pictures)? Do you still get an error and shutdown?

What happens if you create a new WORKBOOK and copy each spreadsheet across from the original to the new workbook, save it, then insert a picture from a folder (not MY Pictures). Does is still error and shutdown?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

I have attempted to create new spreadsheets and tried old ones where I have already inserted pictures successfully and each time excel quits with no error message aside from the excel has unexpectedly quit and needs to close.

Created a new WORKBOOK and copied the old to the new, saved it, re-opened and tried to insert a pic from a folder and it still errors and shutdowns.

Could it be the actual picture you're trying to insert? Try a different smaller picture.
