    Dates are all numbers?

    Hi there

I'd like to mention that I have just started using Excel (Office 2010) for basic bookkeeping so I'm learning as I go. For some reason unfortunately I cannot answer, I've clicked on something that has changed my dates in this format dd/mm/yyyy to numbers. I've done a bit of research and have discovered that the numbers are a serial date from the Excel date base. I've also read a couple of fixes but to be honest I really don't understand what to do, correctly hence my question.

Could someone explain in simple terms (steps) how I change all the serial dates back to the format I had them in.

    Cheers

right click cell or range of cells
    chose format cells
    choose
    numbers tab
    choose date
select the date format you want from the right hand side
    click ok
