You would have been able to unhide them.
Can you right click on the sheet name at the bottom of excel and select view code.
Is there a macro there that hides those rows?
This macro will unhide all rows:

Click on row 36 (on the left) and drag your mouse up a little bit next to the small triangle next to column A
Then right click and select "unhide"

Other way :
In the white box on the left of the formula box just above column A :
Type 1:37
Then right click on that selection and select "Unhide"

Hi rgeaste, hiding row 1 or column A can be a pain to unhide at times.
Try clicking into the box that displays the cell name/location (e.g. A37)
Then enter "1:40" (without "")
That should select all rows from 1 to 40, then right-click inside the shown selected area and choose "Unhide"
Edit: sorry, took a while to answer and didn't notice all the other answers
