    How to sort words by its value ?

    Hi ! i am new to excel and i want to know how to sort word by its value ?

    This is right order of rank
    1) Recruit
    2) Private
    3) Gefreiter
    4) Corporal
    5) Master Corporal
    6) Sergent
    7) Staff Sergeant
    8) Master Sergeant
    9) First Sergeant
    10) Sergeant-Major

    so i want to sort them by there value not by A to Z or length etc. please help

    this is do-able, but we really need to see what you have and what you want.

    Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is enough data to demonstrate your need. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary. Remember to remove ALL confidential information first!!!

    You have not been very clear about what you expected to get as a result!

    This was done by sing a VLOOKUP function to return the ranking order in a helper column and the by applying DATA/SORT to rearrange. If this is not what you wanted, please re-post your attachment showing your desired result.
