Link a General Journal to General Ledger Debit or Credit balance

Hi everyone, I am newbie in here, I need some help with my formulas problem.
I want to know about excel formulas. I am creating a Financial report, but i am still using Ms. Excel 2013 and I am still newbie with Excel formulas. So far i only know vlookup formulas and couldn't combine to anything until now. Please tell me if there's something wrong about my table or anything. I want to know if i want to link Date, Debit and Credit balance from General Ledger to General Journal. Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Can we go back to basics. Would you explain what data you have, and what information or reporting you want to derive from it and how you get the results from the data. i.e. what rules or procedures do you want to take place in order to derive the results.
Don't assume the way you have stuff laid out at the moment is the most efficient.

For stuff like this it's generally better to hold a normalised regular 2 dimensional table of original data. Once you have this in place then you can easily report information from it with either a Pivot Table or Excel functions in a report template.

Re: Link a General Journal to General Ledger Debit or Credit balance

My data is from daily transactions, then i put in to the Excel and make a General Journal. When i put in a transaction in General Journal, date, account code, amount, and then I want it automatically input into the General Ledger, and so Trial Balance, Worksheet, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet will automatically input from General Ledger.

Honestly, i am still newbie in Excel world, i am not sure i can do something like that. Can you show me please an example or anything that looks like my case? I am trying pivot table right now.
