Copying data from one row into the next two down a column.

It sounds simple enough but I have a spreadsheet that has different data in the first column of every third row. IE row one has data, row 4 has data, row 7 has data on down for 3000 rows. Below each populated row, are 2 blank rows for columns 1,2 and 3. The 4th column is numbered 1,2,3, 1 being the existing data, 2 being the first blank row, 3 being the second blank row. I want to copy the data from the first row into the next two below it, but dont want the same data down the entire column. I tried sorting on the '1' in the 4th column, then copying the data from the first column, then resorting on the 2 and trying to paste it but it didnt paste correctly. Im told there is a function that will do what I need but I cant find it. (copy range maybe?). help will be appreciated.

Select all the data from A1 down to the bottom of your list of 1, 2, 3 in the 4th column and across for as many columns as you have, then press the F5 (GoTo) key and click on Special then on Blanks and OK. Then start to type in a formula by typing =, and then click in the cell immediately above the active cell and then do CTRL-ENTER, and all the blanks will be filled with the appropriate data from above. You may want to Paste Special | Values to replace the formulae with values.

    Hope this helps.
