    How to find version number

How do I find the version number of Excel that I am using, please?
Possibly a catch 22 question, because the method of identifying it may itself depend on the version number.
Anyway, most software applications that I use have a Help/About section in the menu bar, which tells you the version number.
I know that I am on some post-2003 version because I have a ribbon, and by default it saves files in .xlsx format.

    Thanks.

Re: How to find version number

Haha it was a bit of catch 22.
I find that I am on 2007. Because there is no "File" option in the menu bar! so no File/Help option.
But there is a tiny little blue question mark on the far right of the menu bar which I click-on to get online help. I put in Version in the search, and it comes up with a page that basically says that the version number depends on the appearance of the menu bar and ribbon. Well, that seems a bit, I dunno, hard to find the right word. Neanderthal?

Thanks Alkey. It seems I am on release 12.0, whatever that means in Gates-speak. I guess that is equivalent to "2007".

Which reminds me, one for the weekend. I am sure you have all heard it before:

Heh, now they only need to release one new version every year, and we shall all be in sync.
