Working with sheets

I am trying to set up a sheet for each week to record mileage. I would like for sheet 2 to take a figure from sheet 1 and add to a figure on sheet 2, then for sheet 3 to take the figure from sheet 2. I only get the sheet 1 figure onto sheet 3,4 and on. There must be a formula to carry each figure forward to consecutive weeks??
EG: this weeks closing mileage becomes next weeks opening mileage and so on! All I can get is "Week 1 going to Week 2, but on Week 3,4 and 5, I still get the Week 1 figure.

I would suggest that you don't do that. Record all your data on a single worksheet. Date every record, and time stamp it if necessary. Make your data a Structured Table (Insert | Table). Then you have built in sorting and filtering capabilities. You can use Pivot Tables to analyse the data. And you chart daily, weekly, monthly mileage. Do NOT make a huge cross for your back. You will seriously regret it.
