    Merge like data?

    Hi I am new to the forum so thank you in advanced!

    I am looking to sort through some data. I have a list of email prefixes and then usernames. The data is in two separate workbooks, and I need to merge the data and have like data in the same row. The cells, unfortunately are not exact but contain similar data. For confidentiality and ease of example, I have attached a picture of fake data that has manually been modified to match.

    Hi lvogel1,

    You could use a VLOOKUP function that looks for a defined number of letters from the start of the text & match that with the second dataset.

    Can you post your dummy data in an excel file to work on?

    This solution first looks up the email prefix based on a portion of the user name using the formula:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
