Help me explain results usingYEARFRAC function.

Using YEARFRAC function, with dates 11/11/2004 in cell A1 and 11/11/2016 in B1, applying the formula "YEARFRAC(A1,B1,1)" to cell C1, the result is "1/11/1900"

Using YEARFRAC function, entering the same dates directly into the Function Arguments box to apply the formula "YEARFRAC(11/11/2004,11/11/2016,1) to cell C1, the result is "1/0/1900"

I would greatly appreciate anyone explaining the reason for these results instead of the result "12", and what I am doing wrong.

The results you see in C1 is most likely the cell formatted as Date. Change format to General or Number
