an ex colleague of mine had an excel, where columns and rows were automatically formatting when you added something new.
For example, I added some new data into rows, and all the subsequents columns would be formatted.
How can you do this, that if its empty the cells are blank, but when you fill them out they format ? Cheers

There are only two methods: VBA code or Excel Table.
Search on Excel Tables if you are not familiar with them.
When using Tables all formatting as well as formulas are automatically extended as new rows and columns are added (formulas only extend with new rows though). The new rows or columns must be either inserted between existing rows or columns or the new row/column must be the immediate next row or column.
