Why don't I have the option to add a trendline to my chart?

    Hello,

I have a stacked line with markers line chart. I want to add a trendline but I don't have the option to.

I am not sure why, but trendlines do not seem to be available in stacked charts:

I suspect it has to do with deciding exactly what a "trendline" means in a stacked chart and what values the trendline should be based on.

Because all of the chart's available trendlines are "linear" (except for "moving average"), it is easy to compute your trendline data directly in the spreadsheet, then add the trendline to the chart as another data series. The built in LINEST() and LOGEST() functions can be used to generate the coefficients of the desired equation (https://support.office.com/en-us/art...a-fa7abf772b6d ).

It will be difficult to provide specific direction from such a generic question. What part of generating the trendline in the spreadsheet will you have difficulty with?
