    help with macro sheet

    Hello,
I have a macro sheet and I'm having problems running it in MS Excel 2003. I think that the problems deals with VBA. In the sheet, you can change the highlighted areas only. Whenever I change any of the values, I run into an VBA error. Note that Excel Solver is needed for this sheet to run by clicking calculate

    Re: help with macro sheet

    Hi seer8,

    Does this site help?
    https://www.solver.com/excel-solver-...reset-function

I do know that the solver has changed a few times since early versions of Excel.

    Re: help with macro sheet

Your uploaded file has the xlsm extension. The means that file is created in Excel 2007 or higher

Looking at the macro there is a reference set to "Solver.xla" which is proper reference for xls files i.e. excel 2003.

For Excel 2007 or higher a reference should be set to "Solver.xlam"

Then there are some commands specific for Excel 2010 and higher. The setting "All" i.e. "All different" is only found in Excel 2010 and higher as well as the 3 different solver engines "GRG Nonlinear" or "Engine:=1", the "Simplex LP" or "Engine:=2" and finally the "Evolutionary" or "Engine:=3"

For Excel 2003 and 2007 the default setting is "GRG Non linear" and you can select "Simplex LP" by ticking the box "Assume Linear Model" found under option.

So even if solver in both excel 2003 and 2007 can run engine "GRG Non linear" as well as "Simplex LP" a macro that contains these commands "GRG Non linear", "Engine:=1", "Simplex LP" or "Engine:=2" will stop with an error message.
