Can't Sort or Filter

I have a worksheet of 10 Columns and over 5000 rows.
The worksheet has the word {Group} in brackets after the file name.
When I pasted this worksheet into an old file I have been using for a long time it added the word {Group} to this file also.

I am unable to use sort or filter on this worksheet as they are both grayed out.

It would seem you have 2 or more sheets Grouped together - ie multiple sheets are selected
(when Grouped actions undertaken on one sheet are replicated on the other sheets selected simultaneously - certain actions like Sorting are however precluded)

Right click on the Tab name of the visible sheet and select Ungroup, at which point "Group" should disappear from the file name.

This was helpful to me as well. Just one additional note - the excel file with which I was working was created in SPSS. Apparently SPSS automatically groups the three sheets in the file. Not sure I would have figured that out without this tip - thanks so much.

This tip, to ungroup, solved my frustration of several days. I doubt I would have been able to figure it out myself. Thank you!!!!!!!!

I have imported excel files from our student data base but am unable to use filter, after putting the filter it does not show the data in the filter dialogue box please help..
