Do you mean by formula? Assuming that 500 is your highest number, try this in A1 dragged down:
=501-ROWS($A$1:A1)
Drag copy down.

Its not clear what you are asking
if you want to sort existing data, select data and sort Z to A
if you want a list of descending numbers, type the largest, then the next largest in the cell below, select both cells and drag the black cross at the bottom righ of the cell down.
Or is it something else?
