    The number will appear as "###" if there is no sufficient column width.

    Look at it.

    There is no way to distinguish longer numbers from shorter ones, but if you select all columns and double-click the divider between two of the column letters at the top, Excel will widen all columns to cope. You could record a macro to do this.

    You could maybe add a helper to test for LEN() of the cell contents compared to column width, but that can also get messy
