How do I select large blocks of cells?

I am working with the output of a piece of lab equipment. Instead of placing relevant data in separate columns, it places all of the data in one column and separates the data sets with one empty cell. Now I have to manually go through this file, take the measurements and place them in columns to easily visualize and graph the results.

I can use the mouse to highlight the cells I want or hold shift and the arrow keys but there is a lot of data here. Using shift plus down arrow it takes about THREE MINUTES to scroll down and highlight one data set.

There has to be a better way!

A small representative Excel workbook would help. (Please no pics or screenshots. Saves retyping data.)

You often get more and faster response if you do.

If you are not familiar with how to do that follow these instructions:

To attach a file to your post,
    • be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”

The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.
