By formula editor, do you mean the formula bar below the ribbon?
If so, then it should show colour coding as you build up your formula.

Brackets aren't color coded in sheet that I downloaded from this forum's post.
But,It works when I type the formula
They should be when you place the cursor into the formula bar, but will not be visible otherwise. Perhaps you can provide a workbook where it is not working as you expect?
If you simply select a cell having a formula it will not show any color coding

If you edit the cell (double click, or F2) then the color coding will be shown in the cell. If you click in the Formula Bar, then the color coding will also be shown in the Formula Bar:
The colors are more vivid in Excel than they look in my screenshot.

I dont believe you can change the appearance of those.
I know this is an old thread but working with 2019 version of office the colors are so muted you can't see the damn pairs!
This is an enlarged and bolded formula I'm testing (with numbers in place of variables.)
Even as shown you can barely tell the difference between the two (()) after the TRUNC function. Purple vs Maroon?
And between (8*(24*24) teal vs Blue?
I don't want to STUDY the graphics of the formula, I want to focus on the formula!?!?!?!?!
Where the F@#$#$% are the designers of this? I'd be EMBARRASSED to have a client try to use this.

Just to respond to your rant...
if you know how to read formulas, then that formula is pretty easy to read...and the colors just make it even easier (and I have had cataract surgery and have not yet been tested for reading glasses)
