my data range is 350 to 2500 but I want to start my axis label at 500

I have looked and looked and cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the start point of my axis label.

My data range is 350 - 2500 but I want my first label to start at 500 and go by increments 500 for the major unit.

EDIT: I gone to the 'format axis' tab and selected the 'labels' tab but the only option is the position (none, high, low, next to axis).

Any help will be greatly appreciated! This is driving me nuts.
    This is for office 365.

    Thanks!

Chart type? It sounds like you want a value horizontal axis, which suggests you are using an XY scatter chart, but I want to be sure.

Assuming you are using an XY scatter chart, somewhere in that format axis dialog should be a set of options for changing the min, max, major unit, and minor unit of the axis. If you are not seeing any of those options, that suggests you are using a line or other chart with a category axis, which will not have the numeric options you are asking for.

yes it is an XY scatter plot, and I am trying to adjust the x-axis.

I can adjust the min/max etc, but that is not what I want. Because the first label always starts at the first data point (350 in this case). The issue is that I want to have my first data label start at 500, so that I can have the other labels by 500 increments (500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500).

I found a workaround setting up a dummy data column and tweeking the data labels, but i am not allowed to post the link.

I suppose I did not understand what you wanted to do, or something. If you set the axis minimum to 500, the axis should have started at 500 -- but maybe you want the axis to start at 350, but not have the first tick mark until 500? If the latter is the case, then you will need to fake an axis with a dummy series the way it sounds like you are doing.

Yes that is what I wanted to do, I want the axis to start at 350, but not have the first tick mark until 500. Perhaps my difficulty in describing my problem is why I struggled with googling a solution.

In any case, I did indeed set a dummy series, which worked well. I am surprised that there is no built in method for this in excel.

Thanks for the replies, it is much appreciated!
