Maybe this is a powerpoint or computer issue and I'm posting in the wrong spot but its related to excel so this kind of counts.

I have an excel file that I'm trying to imbed in powerpoint. I'm using insert, object, create from file, browse, then selecting the file as an icon. Half the time just hitting ok at that point causes the mouse wheel to start loading and I can't do click anything in powerpoint and am forced to close it with task manager. When I close powerpoint, left behind is a popup that was hiding behind the powerpoint window that asks me to update links in excel. Clicking update or don't update results in nothing happening but when I open the excel file again it tells me the file is already open even though there is nothing there open on my screen.

My suspicion is when I click ok for some reason it asks me to update the links but the popup doesn't show up in front of powerpoint and I can't move powerpoint or click anything on it to get to the popup behind it, resulting in nothing happening and I have to close it. Even if the file does upload, then trying to open it causes the loading and nothing to happen again, with the link hidden behind the powerpoint screen, and the whole process starts again. The file is 1,000KB so I don't think it's so ridiculously big that it won't load.

Has anyone had this problem when embedding an excel file in powerpoint before? I can upload other excel files into the same powerpoint file but this particular file doesn't work. Are there any workarounds or solutions?
