Paste Options Button is not Default anymore?

Because I know someone will ask me this question...
A few weeks ago my Excel updated and I have a new look to my icon. When I look at "account" i still see Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 as the activated product, however when I open "about Excel" it says Microsoft Excel for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11601.20174) 32-bit. Anyway I'm not entirely certain what I have. sorry

My very basic (and I assume easy to fix) problem is:
I use the copy/paste button all the time that appears when you select cells and pull down. HOWEVER, that button does not appear anymore by default. I have to go out each and ever time I want to use it to options - advanced - and then select show paste options button when content is pasted! is there any way to make this a default no matter what workbook i open up?

What Button? Can you screencap and like draw a red circle around where exactly you would expect this button to be?

If you have something pasted to the clipboard, ins't "Paste Options" still going to be in the tooltip when you right-click on the destination cell / range?

This is the button I mean. I can only access this if each spreadsheet I open I go to options - advanced - and then click on Show paste options button when content is pasted.

From this button I can choose to copy or fill a series.

I've got that box ticked automatically when I create a new workbook. (And anyway, I don't habitually use that button, because I go through the tooltip, so I'm not too familiar with this feature).

But it sounds like you just need to change the default template as described here maybe?
