    Jump two columns to the left

    Hello,

    (first of all, mayby have a look at the picture)
    I would like excel to display the name of the substance (e.g. methane (B57)) automatically if I select the value of the combustion gas (e.g. D57) in column F. So, for instance if I type "=D57" in cell F72, G72 should automatically display the value of B57.

    Looking forward to any solutions

    try index/match for that...
    =INDEX($B$57:$B$67,MATCH(F57,$D$57:$D$67,0))

    I think Sam meant this:

    =INDEX($B$57:$B$67,MATCH(F72,$D$57:$D$67,0))
